Matt has extensive experience helping clients with severe mental illness, trauma, and suicidal thinking. Prior to practicing psychotherapy, Matt worked in the political world, and advocated on issues including climate change, worker's rights, and gun safety.

Matt has served as an Adjunct Professor in the Graduate School of Social Work at the University of Denver. Courses he has taught include Clinical Skills, Suicide Assessment and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
As a therapist, Matt utilizes several research-backed techniques. Some of these techniques include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), person-centered therapy, and mindfulness. Matt tailors his approach to each client to find the approach that will work best.
